Market Review

More legs. The FBM KLCI closed 9.92 points higher to 1,472.19 on the back of buying interest in selected heavyweights – Digi , Genting Malaysia, Maybank and PetGas. The continued strength of the Ringgit against the USD helped to shore up sentiment in our local market. Key corporate headlines includes: Khazanah is presently studying MMC Corp’s proposal to acquire UEM Group from the government, Mitrajaya has secured a RM11.4m contract and IJM has acquired additional shares in CIDB Inventures Sdn Bhd and India based Swarna Toll. We expect the local bourse to remain firm today given Dow’s overnight surge of 193.4 points on the back of stronger than expected ISM data on business activity in the US.
