Market Review

Surprisingly higher close. The FBM KLCI rose 1.02 points to end at 1,332.89 although it opened 13.16 points down on mild bargain hunting in selected blue chips. TNB signed a MOU with Provincial Electricity Authority to supply between 9MW and 15MW of power from Pengkalan Hul in Perak to the Betong district in Thailand. EON Capital has appointed MIMB Investment Bank as principal advisor and Credit Suisse
Securities as the independent financial advisor to evaluate the fairness and reasonableness of the proposed takeover offer by Hong Leong Bank. Guiness’ 3QFY10 net profit of RM46.5m jumped 43% y-o-y on a sales boost from CNY celebration. Malaysia may sell 10-year dollar denominated bonds in June. Finally, both the US
market and crude oil price continued on a downtrend last Friday. Crude oil price fell USD2.00 to USD75.11/barrel on negative global market sentiment.
