Market Review

Off lows. The FBM KLCI recovered from its low of 1306 points to end at 1314 points for a loss of nearly 6 points, led by IOI Corp, CIMB, Maybank and Genting Malaysia. Regional bourses were mixed, with the Nikkei losing nearly 2% and the Hang Seng 0.6% while the STI and Sensex were flat. However, with the Dow losing another 96 points overnight, the local market could be vulnerable to selling pressure. Today’s news headlines: 1)  LCL Corp seeks white knight to help revive the group, 2) Hiap Teck Venture reported RM16.9m in quarterly net profit, 3) Tanjong's April quarter net profit came in at RM177.2m against RM191.4m last year, and 4) Pantech proposes a bonus and rights issue.
