Market Review - Hong Kong / China Equity

The HSI rose on Thursday by 368.5 points to finish at 20,290.69 points. The HSCEI rose 2.1% to 11,582.31 points. Turnover for the HSIS bourses fell to HK$53.3bn from HK$59.6bn the day before. General market sentiment improved as an unexpected slowdown in Chinese consumer inflation in January calmed worries for monetary tightening. BEA (23 HK) rose 3.9% for the day after reporting better than expected results, while SMIC (981 HK) rose 11.1% as it announced an overhaul of its top management.
