Market Review
Coutiosly optimistic. The FBM KLCI was closed for the past two days for the Lunar New Year. However, China's central bank's move to raise reserve requirement of its banks last Friday by 50bps could partially cap the upside bias on our market, although the Dow Jones' strong overnight close of 170pts on stronger than expected manufacturing data may fueling optimism of the sustainability of the economic recovery. Today's corporate headlines include Sime Darby being rumoured to have concluded negotiations to acquire the BMW dealership from Sapura Resources for RM50m, Tan Chong exploring the possibility of bringing in Nissan's first electronic vechicle LEAF, Proton is expected to decide on Shah Alam Plant move by 2011 and Green Packet to tie up with its Indonesian telco counterparts.
