Uninspiring day. The market rose marginally by 0.23 points to 1,363.8, supported by continued buying interest in Axiata and Tenaga. Volume remained intact, with 1.1bn shares traded. Today’s key corporate headlines are: (i) MPHB intends to maintain its 51% stake in Magnum even post listing of Magnum, (ii) Bank Negara Malaysia has approved the proposed takeover of EONCap by Hong Leong Bank, (iii) Khazanah has issued its single largest sukuk to date amounting to SD1.5bn, and (iv) OSK’s indirect subsidiary OSK Indochina Securities Ltd has received approval in principle from Securities Commission Cambodia to act as an securities underwriter in Cambodia. The US market closed lower on concerns of below expectation consumer spending and factory orders. We expect our local market to consolidate today given its recent strong uptrend.
