Market Review

A mixed day. A last hour buying of Petronas Dagangan helped the FBM KLCI end the day with a loss of only 1 point at 1362.74 points, after the index had traded at a low of 1359.19 points. Market breadth nevertheless remained negative, with 363 losers against 322 gainers. Today’s news headline are Affin Bank proposes to acquire 20.82% stake in Bank Ina Perdana of Indonesia and subscribe for 59.18% of its enlarged share capital,  resulting in a 80% stake costing RM138m, AirAsia defers the delivery of seven Airbus A320 aircraft from 2011 to 2015, Ta Ann Holdings withdraws its plan to set up a plywood mill in China, Genting Malaysia wins New York's video lottery licence, US fund GMO became a substantial shareholder in Zelan. Overnight, the Dow was mildly higher, gaining 44 points to 10,680 points while Europe was mixed although all bourses ended near their respective highs for the day.
