Market Review

Higher close. The FBM KLCI surged 13.22 points on Friday to 1,317.69 after market players continued to take the cue from the overnight gains on Wall Street and seemed less worried about the debt issue in the Eurozone. The CPI for May rose 1.6% y-o-y to 113.5 from 111.7 a year ago. The MAA reported that total  vehicle sales in May 2010 rose 16% y-o-y, or 6,860 units, to 50,845 on favourable market conditions. BToto’s 4QFY10 net profit of RM80.9m was 24.3% lower y-o-y due to higher prize payouts. Tanjung Offshore has received a letter of award from Petronas Carigali for the provision of seismic services worth RM10.0m while Putrajaya Perdana has secured a RM142.8m contract from Trekker Avenue SB to build a 300-bed private hospital in Desa ParkCity, Selangor. Finally, both the US markets and crude oil price were slightly higher on Friday. Crude oil price rose USD0.39 to USD77.18/barrel.
